Krista's work with children is influences by many places. Bank Street College and the developmental interaction approach has deep root in Krista as she received her Masters in Education there as well as work at the family center and as a SEIT for the last decade. She also has done in depth studies and training in the DIR/Floortime model. In her undergraduate studies and head teacher work, she spent many years focus and learning through Reggio inspired school. She was fortunate to visit Reggio Emilia schools and children. In her career as a special educator she has done extensive research and support with young child coping with sensory processing disorder, children on the autistic spectrum and attention/behavioral needs.

Influences included but not limited too:

Bank Street Developmental Interaction Approach

DIR/Floortime

Reggio Inspired Schools and ideas

Current Education and brain research

Social Emotional Learning

Support Systems for Children with Sensory Processing Disorder

Attachment Theory

Krista work is focused on the child and family together. A child can only learn through emotional connection. Krista works with children by building strong emotional bonds to support them through their developmental journey. Through the emotional support children can take risks, test the limits of the world and their understanding and make deeper brain connection between ideas. Her session with children focus on their needs and ideas to help them engage in their environment.

In all of her work she know that communication is key to help children learn. When working with school and other therapist, Krista strives to keep communication lines open.
